Headwear or a Choker??

HMMM what  do you think for my latest efforts.  I used the new Steampunk Chipboard from Twiddleybitz but can't decide which it should actually be labelled as - I think it's my model's fault as she has made it look great both ways! Thank you Erin!

As a headpiece:

As a Choker:

A close up of the bits and pieces:

The Ingredients:

I had a lot of fun with this and as soon as I saw the new Twiddleybitz Steampunk Nautical Border - I knew what I had to do with it!  All other products were purchased from My2Angels.

Trinket Box - for mum?

Just a quick post to show you a recently completed trinket box from Twiddleybitz.

I originally painted it all blue but then didn't like it very much so set to work with my alcohol inks!
Then to make it fancy I added flowers and charms (coloured with liquid pearls) and a bit of Flourish With A Bling...

And then I coloured some Muslin with coloursprays to make an insert, attaching it with hot glue.

I am very happy with the outcome, so much so that now I'm thinking I'll have to make something else for Mum as I want to keep this!

Here's a photo of the products I used (minus the original undercoat of paint), all flowers and charms are from My2Angels.

Together Canvas

I love how easy this was!

  1. I sprayed the canvas with glimmer mist and used the heat tool to dry it...
  2. I added some gold ferro over the Twiddleybitz chicken-wire stencil and sprinkled sugar beads in while it was still wet
  3. I coloured the chipboard butterfly with Inka Gold, and a touch of the brown ferro on the clockface section of the butterfly.
  4. I adhered the brass charm underneath him - then the 'together' charm on top with a hot glue gun.
  5. I added "discover" from Tim Holtz 'chitchat' and I was done!

Purple Love Treasure, another canvas :-)

Hello Everyone!

I've been playing with canvas' again, getting all inky - happy days!!
This is a 5x7 canvas board not frame so it's solid and flat.  I sprayed it with different coloured purple sprays, and then put Helmar Tacky Glue all over, hitting it with the heat gun to get the drying process underway.

I then applied Claudine Hellmuth Gloss Multi-Medium and adhered the chipboard, sprinkling the sugar beads in as well...

After heating again with the heat gun to dry it - and leaving it overnight to dry (it was excruciatingly painful leaving it overnight as I was impatient to finish!), I rubbed with silver Inka Gold on the chipboard, and Violet Inka Gold on the canvas and sugar beads area...

I coloured the word "LOVE", and the key and arrow charms I used for the hands of the clock in the Violet Inka Gold before adhering and sealing with more gloss medium. I also used silver Inka Gold on the purple flower before sealing...
I also added the 'treasure' word from the Tim Holtz ChitChat pack - coloured with Dusty concord ink, using glossy accents.

I added the Charm using hot glue as the adhesive as the base was uneven due to the sugar beads.

Here's an image of the canvas with all the products I used :-)
All items available from My2Angels; with the exception of the canvas and the sprays - although Glimmer Mists would be just as effective as the coloursprays I used.

Have fun and be sure to leave me a link if you're creating too!!

A Shabby, Twiddley Shadowbox

I've altered another Twiddleybitz shadow box!!
I could not resist doing a bit of shabby chic for this one and was at the perfect place to get some help - from Tracy Kielty over at my2angels, I'm so glad I live close!

Once the shadowbox was assembled, I started with Ferro Iron to cover the outsides (that's the brown); then rubbed over the surface with Inka Gold - I LOVE how this brings out all the texture!

Then I used Viva Stone Art on the frame and attached it at certain points only, with hot glue - it's curved as it was slightly bigger than the frame...
Added some gorgeous hand-made items, charms, and flowers (after spraying with gold perfect pearls mists) from my2angels

I then glued some tea-stained muslin inside the box.  All done and ready for a keepsake :-)

Ingredients:
Twiddleybitz - Shadow Box Sm; Card size (SBS001)
Twiddleybitz - Small Vintage Overlay (OV004)
Viva Decore - Ferro, Textured Paint (Iron)
Viva Decore' - Inka Gold (Gold)
Viva Decore' - Stone Art
My2angels - Shabby Brown Charming Embellishments
My2angels - Large Antique Bronze Key
My2angels - Antique Bronze Large Flower Filigree
My2angels - Set of keys on ring charm

Smash Cover

I bought a smash book over 4 months ago and have thought a number of times about actually using it.  I was a little uninspired as it's not my usual 'style'.  I like to get inky and dirty and layer etc, etc.  BUT the most wonderfully talented Cindy Porter (I'm so lucky she's my friend!) is on the Helmar Design Team and recently posted a tutorial using techniques I was a little familiar with, but with her own interpretations and an awesome result!!  All credit to Cindy for her amazing tutorial and inspiring me to finally do something!! Cindy's blog post is here.

Lucky for me I got to do this while Skype Scrapping with another gorgeous talented friend of mine - Fiona Butler, whom did the cover of her Smash Album at the same time!!

Here's a step by step on my Smash cover - using Cindy's technique as my base, and my little changes :-)

Before (with the plastic cover removed):

Remove the plastic and lay the book flat on your craft sheet.  Pour some Tacky Glue/PVA on the cover - nice and thick. Use a pallet knife to spread it around - and your finger to get ridges and texture...

Cindy used a candle to heat her tacky glue and get the 'soot' - I was too impatient so got out two (yes 2!) heat guns and heated my cover.  It bubbled and popped and shrank and did all sorts of interesting things!!

Then I added some Chipboard from Twiddleybitz, more glue, and heated again:

I then sprayed with a couple of green mists, and heated again:

Drying the mists as I went.  The darker areas are where the glue had shrunk and the mists soaked into the paper on the front cover.

When it was dry on the surface I added silver Inka Gold to bring out the lovely textures created by heating the glue.

And with the materials I used:

Ingredients:
Smash Journal
Helmar Tacky Glue
Claudine Hellmuth Multi Medium Gloss
Twiddleybitz Chipboard Title - "A Beautiful Life"
Twiddleybitz Chipboard - Long Flourish No Tail (FLOR022)
Viva Inka Gold - Silver
Lindy's Stamp Gang - Freaky Franken Lime
Crafty Notions Colorspray - Luscious Green
Pallet Knife and Heat Gun.

Thanks for stopping by - I hope you like my project - once again, thanks to the very talented and creative Cindy Porter!

Tip 5: Washi Impressions

That's right - I have another one!!  I'll get straight into it as I'm quite excited about this one!

Tip 5: Put your washi through your cuttlebug/bigshot with your embossing folders!

  • Put some washi on the backing paper for jac paper or anything non-stick that you don't mind getting embossed!  oh - don't use your craft mat as you can't make it 'flat' again!

  • Put the washi and backing through your cuttlebug/bigshot.  You can use C6 size embossing folders too - not just these skinny ones.

  • Peel the washi from the backing and attach to your card or project - gently push or rub to adhere, careful not to press to hard along the raised image.

  • Here are a few strips I have done with different embossing folders.  You can still rub some dye ink gently over the raised image for more image definition too!

I've used Matte Aqua Washi Tape from Sawyer's Place for these examples; I'd love to see how you go trying this.  Please share a link to your project in the comments below :-)

Birdhouse Moneybox

I just love off the page projects - I think that's obvious to anyone whom visits my blog!  I picked up this cute Mini Birdhouse Moneybox from Twiddleybitz at the last Brisbane show and finally managed to get it finished around Christmas!

I wanted it to stand out so painted it in Red Pepper Adirondack Paint and The picket fence in Adirondack Snowcap white.  The cat was inked until covered adequately using a black stazon ink pad.  The birds I positioned on the roof, in a line like they are chittering about the cat below who's trying to find them :-)
The birdhouse looked a little bare so adding a couple of Olive Jack Vines from Flourish With A Bling helped to give it a bit of character.
Ingredients:
Twiddleybitz - Mini Birdhouse Moneybox (mdf028)
Twiddleybitz - Fence set of four (bas014)
Twiddley bitz Cat - from Farmyard Friends set (ani002)
Flourish With A Bling - Jack Vine (Olive)
Adirondack Dauber Paint - snowcap & red pepper
Stazon Inkpad - Black
Stix2Anything - PVA Craft Glue

I have some exciting news coming soon that I am busting to share - but you'll have to wait a little bit longer to find out!  Thanks for stopping by!

Erin's Bling Door Hanger Tutorial

Well I awoke to a lovely surprise a little while ago.  Erin had been in the Studio and created a door hanger for herself!  She did a lovely job and what was even better was that she had also cleaned up after herself!!

When I commented on how lovely it was and told her I would blog about it - she decided to write a tutorial straight away!

  1. I painted the E and the door hanger first in Distress Crackle Paint - worn lipstick
  2. When it was dry, I sprayed on 3 colours - lippy luscious, cherry luscious, and brick.
  3. I then dabbed it softly with a tissue.
  4. I added Flourish With A Bling Pearls and they were pink
  5. I stuck the E to the hanger with PVA from Stix2Anything
  6. I added Flourish With A Bling flowers - 2 light pink and 1 dark pink

Ingredients:
Kaiser Door Hanger
Kaiser Letter "E"
Stix2Anything - PVA glue
Ranger/Tim Holtz Distress Crackle Paint - Worn Lipstick
Colourful Thoughts Colorsprays - Lippy Luscious, Cherry Luscious
Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist - Brick
Flourish With A Bling Adhesive Pearls - Copper
Flourish With A Bling Elis Flourish Silver - Dusty Pink and Rose Pink Flowers

Thank you for joining myself and Erin for this post :-)

Santa's Chair!!

I think these chairs from Twiddleybitz are super cute and have loved all the soft feminine chairs that people have created with them but I wanted to do something a bit different!  Christmas gave me the perfect opportunity to make Santa's Chair!!

I started by painting the poppy colourspray onto the MDF - spraying doesn't work so well as it beads on the wood.
Then I glued all the pieces together with pva - this was super easy as they slot together perfectly!
Embellishing the chair was again extremely easy as I used a Christmas embellishment pack from my2angels.net!  I didn't have to make any pins, rosettes, tags or do any embossing!!
Here's the gorgeous rosette on the front of the backrest and the two 'star cushions'!
I did however sew the pincushion!!! yay me!  dusted off the sewing machine - it's been a while BUT I cheated with the Santa Sack and put cushion stuffing in a pre-made organza bag :-P.  I added the green sparkly ribbon from the pack and the gorgeous charming chain too.
And a side view too :-)
Ingredients:
Twiddleybitz - MDF Chairs, 2pk (MDF02)
My2Angels - Christmas Embellishment Kit (Brisbane Show Purchase)
My2Angels - Merry Christmas Charming Chain with Glass Abacus
My2Angels - Charming Pins
My2Angels - Felt Shapes
My2Angels - Green Glitter Ribbon
Colorful Thoughts Sprays - Poppy
Tattered Angels - Glimmer Mist, Scarlet
Red Material
Red Organza Bag
Cushion stuffing
PVA Glue

Stay tuned for my next Christmas Twiddleybitz Off the Page Project!  It's so exciting!!
